Display Only This driver type enables IHVs to write a WDDM based kernel mode
driver that is capable of driving display only devices. The OS handles the 2D or
3D rendering using a software simulated GPU. The device can function as the primary
graphics boot device. An example is the Microsoft provided Basic Display Driver.
Render Only This driver type enables IHVs to write a WDDM driver that supports
only rendering functionality. Render Only graphics drivers can't be the primary
graphics boot device, and do not display to the local monitor. An example would
be a GPU and driver used for vector processing and complex mathematical operations.
Full Feature This is the full version of the WDDM graphics driver that supports
hardware accelerated 2D & 3D operations. This driver is fully capable of handling
all render, display and video functions and the device can function as the primary
boot device.
